influence on other toons: The Horned king is respected by his subjects and feared by his enemies. Despite the respect and loyalty his subjects show to him, he does not treat them the same. He is in a one-sided rivalry with the other rulers, especially queen Tara. He is the most antagonistic towards her- absolutely loathing both her and her philosophy about equality. The Horned king is infamous among positive characters, to the point that he is frequently compared to the Devil.

  • His eyes turn red, when he gets angry.
  • His original actor was the late John Hurt.
  • He is among the most evil villains in the show.
  • He is probably the only ruler in The Cartoon kingdom, who was not chosen, but instead was self-proclaimed, as evidenced in the episode Jailhouse music.
  • He is the only ruler in the Cartoon kingdom who does not have a royal assistant. Instead, Toffee seems to fill the role, while being a majordomo at the same time.

  • Toffee: The king shows surprisingly much respect and trust towards Toffee. He claims that Toffee is among the few antagonists, who actually do their job. He is very impressed by his competence and at times refers to him as "my friend". However, at times he expresses a competitive side to him, as deep down, the king fears that Toffee gets more respect than him.
  • queen Tara: He has the most interactions with her, among the rulers. He really dislikes her philosophy that there must be harmony among all cartoon characters and really wants to prove her that she is wrong. He enjoyes seeing her miserable.
  • Lucy: She is among the few toons whom he shows some kind of "compassion". He found her when she was being chased by guards and offered her to live in his castle and work as his maid, to which she agreed. He trusts her and he gave her the position of punishing those who fail, usually by ordering her to use her vectors against them.
  • Arachne: Arachne is the king's spy and messenger. She is the one providing him with information about his subjects' failures or plans for potential betrayals. He seems to trust her enough, as he always believes what she says, however this is far from respect, since sometimes he can be heard insulting her.
  • Katie: Although, he does not interact with her directly, Katie is another one of the king's sources of information, due to her occupation as a TV journalist.
  • Varian: The Horned king treated Varian with a lot of hostility, when the boy arrived in Antagonistan for the first time. Along with most other antagonists, the king disbelieved that Varian can be useful, and the only reason why he gave him a chance eventually was because Toffee saw potential in the alchemist. Even after the king agreed to let Varian live in his town, he still did not trust him, since he threatened the boy not to betray him.
  • Black hat: Black hat is another one of the few antagonists whom the king respects. In the episode Mexican godfather, both Toffee and the king were not impressed by Black hat at first, until he showed them what he is truly capable of. The king grew to admire Black hat's power and started treating him with more trust, compared to how he treats most of his other subjects.
